Glossary of Trade Show Terms

The following is a list of terms related to trade show displays and exhibiting, with the definitions for those terms. It is intended for your convenience only, we encourage you to contact us.

Aluminium Extrusions

Aluminium extrusions are lightweight, reconfigurable, and made from up to 77% recycled aluminum. These recycled aluminum extrusions provide strong structural integrity with significant design appeal.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a rapidly renewable material that re-grows to maturity in just 7 years. We use adhesives that are both strong and emission free, and it is finished with a water-based glossy glaze.

CNC

CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. It is a controlled machine that makes 3 dimensional shapes from metals with incredible precision. This ensures quality construction of a display structure and greatly reduces manufacturing costs. It is used to create Aero™ Hanging Banners.

Drayage

The movement of show materials from shipping dock to booth for show set up and back to dock for return shipment at end of show.

Eco-Fi

Eco-Fi is a high-quality, Velcro® compatible polyester fiber made from 100% recycled soda bottles.

Eco-Glass

A ‘green’ alternative to standard acrylic or plexi-glass that is made from 100% post-consumer recycled soda bottle content. Eco-Glass can be used for shelving, substrate infils, panel infils, direct-to-substrate printing, and much more. Unlike standard acrylic which is made from petroleum based virgin plastics, Eco-Glass is made from 100% recycled material and is just as durable as its competitors.

Eco-Poly Graphic Media

A 100% recycled plastic print media ideal for photomurals and detachable display graphics.

Fire Retardant

Refers to a material's resistance to flame. Note, it does not mean fire proof. Many trade show centers and exhibition halls have fire regulations regarding materials, and and tradeshow marshalls often ask to see a Fire Retardancy Certificate.

GreenCore

GreenCore is bio-degradable and made from FSC Certified Wood. It offers a 2-sided printable surface which makes it an eco-friendly alternative to Sintra (made from PVC). GreenCore comes in 2 thicknesses, 1/8" and 1/4".

Island Exhibit

A booth space that is exposed on all sides by walkway aisles.

ISO

ISO is short for International Organization for Standardization, a network of the national standards institutes of 157 countries. Manufacturers that receive ISO certification have passed heavy scrutiny for quality and standards matching.

LED Lighting

LED lights are 4 times more efficient than a regular incandescent light bulb and last 15 to 25 times longer.

Modular

A modular system is designed to have interchangeable components and can be set up in varied configurations and sizes.

Paradise Fabric Graphics

Made from 100% Recycled Soda Bottles, Paradise fabric is the highest quality 100% recycled content fabric made in America today. Up to 40% more durable than similar ‘green’ fabric print media. Made in the USA.

Pipe & Drape

Usually used to segment one booth space from another, it is a fabric drape that covers 'pipe' tubing.

PMS

PMS stands for Pantone Matching System. It is a standardized color reproduction system created so that different printing companies can refer to a single system to ensure printed output colors match.

Pop Up

A portable display which has a ‘pop up and open’ framing with attaching panels and/or graphics.

ReCo

Flexible substrate material made from 100% recycled plastics.

Sorghum Board

Manufactured from reclaimed agricultural fibers from the sorghum plant grown around the world for food. The stalks are usually burned or thrown into landfills after harvest. By using sorghum board, this material is removed from the waste stream, reducing landfill need and air pollution while giving rural farmers a new source of revenue from previously unused waste material.
